In the Azawak Valley, half a million people live on the brink of survival. They donβt have even a cup of water to use in a day. One out of every two children dies before the age of five β 25% of them from dehydration. Global climate change has shortened the rainy season to less than 3 months a year in this West African region within Niger and Mali. A vast valley the size of Florida, children travel up to 35 miles a day in search of water for their families. Clean water does exist there, too deep to reach without expensive mechanical equipment. Amman Imman drills sustainable wells that provide clean, pure water for up to 25,000 people and animals.
