Book 42 of 2021. A beloved book was re-read next for #allbengalibooksinapril "That unthinkable, adult truth: that need is not transitive, that one may need without oneself being needed." "I could not persuade her that a place does not merely exist, that it has to be invented in one's imagination." "Nobody knows, nobody can ever know, not even in memory, because there are moments in time that are not knowable." My third time reading #TheShadowLines and my, this book just punches you in the feels. You'd think I'd be immune to small heartbreaks littered in this story, but no. I still cried for Tridib. Was still mad at Ila. Still found the young May infuriating. Still despised Nick. If you haven't read this incredible book, please do. I cannot for the life of me recommend it enough. Also, this book is a great first #amitavghosh to pick up. Read this and then make your way through the rest of his magnificent work. This was my first foray into his writing, and I am not sure, if 14 year old me fully grasped the beauty of this book but I remember being blown away by the writing and moved by the story. All of that still holds 100% true. . . . #whimsybookworm2021reads #literaturelover #literaryfiction #favourites #bibliophile #bookbloggers #bookreview #bookrecommendations #indianliterature #indianbooks #indianauthors #litwithindianlit #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #booksmakemehappy #favouritebooks #bookworms (at West Bengal) https://www.instagram.com/p/CN7fvHdpLwo/?igshid=rbjhi45pvc48
