Awakening :: Amidatelion & Layle
An amiable, armored friend approached Layle with a letter in greave. The Clavat unfolded the piece of paper and glanced over it so quickly, the Yuke that delivered it wondered if he read it at all. But Layle waited for this, eagerly and for so long, that he only opened the letter as a formality. It took a single word to send the man rushing out of the city. As excited as a young boy, he kept his hands close to himself so that he would not shake with eagerness. And despite his attempt to appear calm, his stride widened so that he could see his toes while looking straight, and hastened with every step until he found himself running. Under, over and past the crowds, the Crystal Bearer found it hard to hide his abilities, not that he tried very hard to hide them in the first place.
On the outer edge of the city, where beneath ruins still lie, the Forgotten Forest became home to the resurrected Yukes. No longer forgotten, or a forest for that matter, the risen tribe and their magic transformed the land into a city of their own: The Yuke City of New Shella. They lived their independence but watched the Alfitarian Kingdom closely, wary of its history.
Layle reached the city, far too excited to catch his breath and passed straight through, kindly welcomed by its inhabitants. It was when he reached a group of Yuke officials— scholars of some sort he assumed, encircled around a familiar piece of armor— that he felt his legs ache. But his heart ached more. Impatient and beating so sure, it was ready to rip from his side.
He stood amongst the crowd, witnessing the circle lift their hands in unison. A beaming light left them, and a glittering stream of light and consciousness spiraled down into the armor. So majestic this ritual, that Layle watched still, completely invested and overwhelmed at the same time.
The wings on the armor gave a flutter, and the helmet piece lifted. Where eyes would be stared straight on amber locks sticking brightly out from the crowds of metal. And to this he smiled, feeling that she was.smiling, too.
