The American Flag, Redesigned
From mind numbing american politics, to new ‘glory’ for ‘old glory’? A redesigned american flag to better exemplify a country in peril. To be displayed, horizontally or vertically, with the red and white squares facing right.
The red square symbolizes the Right, the Right-wing, including Republican party, religious-right, climate-change deniers, neo-cons and conservatives, and the ‘1%’ of global wealth. The red square is aligned closely with the white square, which represents the racist white nationalists [war/kkk], and ilk that share values in common with the Right.
The blue squares of various shades are to represent the rich diversity of america, in all aspects of religion, ethnicity, gender, sexuality. One square constitutes each state in the union, with an additional two, representing Puerto Rico, and US territories. The blue represents the majority of americans — the poor, the working class, the hungry, the homeless.
The dark line embodies the divisive nature of the Right, its attempts to divide the american people through scapegoating minorities and perpetuating wars as they consolidate power and wealth over shared resources, subvert democracy through voter suppression, gerrymandering, mass incarceration, and a militarized police state. This line could be seen as a literal wall, an oil pipeline, or fuse leading to a powder keg.
