So, after having a little moment with @sai-shou (which you can see here if you missed it), we went ahead and did this Rp-fic type deal. And now Iâm posting it to Tumblr. Prepare for fluffiness. :D
(Also, sorry for not answering those asks, I was caught up doing this. XP)
(Also tagging @siren-legion cause reasons)
Constantine Aurelius made his way home. It was raining nice and thick today, beating a curiously soothing tattoo on his umbrella. Thunder rumbled softly in the distance. Connie felt no need to hurry, though. The worst of the storm was projected to miss town, so he could walk with leisure.
He used the time to think on the next work he was conducting. It was another track from a video game, but he didnât mind. The song itselfâŠâŠ
âGloriousâ didnât even begin to cover it. Especially the beginning. As he replayed that portion over in his head, he glanced down an alleyway, for no real reason and-
And he stopped in his tracks. And stared.
âAme?â he breathed.
Another one.
Amelia had fallen onto her knees, her only company being the pouring rain and the lifeless body lying in front of her.
She had killed another one.
She didnât mean to. It was a spur of the moment thing: the man had realized what was happening to him and attempted to reach out for her, to try and pull her mask off. She panicked at the sight, sang her heart out, and-
âŠ
She didnât mean to.
It was never in her heart to fully drain a targetâs life force. Never in her mind to kill anyone. .She just needed enough to bring back to the company, to at least meet their quotas on some level so she wouldnât be punished for showing up empty handed. And now here she is again, hands tainted by murder.
âI have to..â she choked back a sob. âI have to...get rid of the body...â
Hands shaking, she pulled out her cellphone from her back pocket, entering a vague number onto her dialpad and sending a missed call to it. It was a number her companyâs Sirens would ring should any trouble involving âevidenceâ come up. Theyâd always handle the situation in case any of their employees made a mistake that would jeopardize their operations.
âIâm so sorryâ she whispered.
This man probably had a family. Maybe a wife, and kids. A pet dog if heâs that kind of family guy. Friends, a nice job, a loving home. He probably had a lot to live for. And she took it all away from him.
She was so deep in her remorse that she didnât notice the golden-haired man standing behind her.
Connie took in the situation in a glance: Ame, the body, the Siren wings. Oh god, not this. He strode over to her quickly, covering her with his umbrella. He stared down at the corpse, then at Ame. She hadn't moved. Not even a twitch.
âAmeâŠ.. whatâre you doing?â
âMy job.â she responded without thought. At this point she already knew who was speaking, but it didnât matter right now.
Connie bit his lip. He started to think furiously. Multiple worries ran through his head, but one stayed paramount over the others.
He needed to get her out of here. But how?
The idea popped into his head. Will it work?, he wondered. He glanced back at Ame. There wasnât any better options coming to him. Who Dares, Wins, sounded in his head as he moved to her right.
âFunny job, sitting in the rain,â he remarked casually. âBut, right nowâŠâŠ you have another one to get done. Getting out of the rain.â
âI donât want to.â she answered in a slightly irritated tone. âIn fact, I think Iâll just wait here and get arrested.â
A sarcastic laugh escaped her lips.
âI hate this.â
He said nothing for a few moments. âI know.â He sat down next to her with a sigh. He said nothing, looking oddly serene.
Amelia raised a hand to wipe the raindrops from her nose and lips, hoping he didnât notice there were actually tears dripping down underneath her mask.
âYou shouldnât be here. Body movers from my company will be here soon and Iâll be leaving after that.â
She prayed silently that he would just agree and leave, no questions asked. But knowing himâŠ
Those are probably tears, he observed from the corner of his eye. He wasnât entirely sure, but with the circumstancesâŠ. It was probably tears. He remained silent for a few moments after she spoke. Always looking after others before herself. Connie felt the corners of his mouth start to form a little smile. âIâm afraid I canât do that,â he announced solemnly. He glanced at her. âI have to do my job.â
âHuh?â
Amelia felt the rain above her head stop pouring completely.
âConnie, donât-â
She sighed when the man simply remained unmoving by her side, shielding her from the rain with his ridiculously large umbrella. She puffed up her cheeks for a moment, a little disappointed that she couldnât get him to leave her alone.
But then she cracked a weak smile.
âHeh.â she began. âFunny job.â
âNot as funny as sitting in the rainâ he smiled back. No matter how small it was, seeing her smileâŠâŠ was a beautiful sight.
âAmeâŠ..â he said softly. âIâŠ.â the words faltered. He sighed, looked away for a bit. Then he looked back.
âI love you. No matter what those bastards make you do.â
A sudden blush crossed Ameliaâs face, causing her to quickly turn away.
Oh my god.
She managed to let out an awkward laugh, and after noticing Connieâs very confused expression, she stopped, embarrassed. She still wasnât used to hearing those words from anyone other than her sister, so it was natural for her to be so flustered. A moment of silence passed before they began laughing together at how stupid it was.
Even with her mask on, and leftover raindrops still dripping from her hair to her face, he could tell that she had stopped crying.
âThanks.â she reached back to release thok of her mask, taking it off and allowing her wings to fade away. There she is; the beautiful nerd that Connie was so attracted to.
â-loveyoutooâ she whispered nervously, trying not to giggle. After taking a deep breath to clear her mind, and one more glance at her latest victim, she turned her attention to Connie, ready to get up and leave.
It felt good to laugh like that. He watched as she took off her mask, wondering again at just how beautiful she was. Like that isnât corny, he grinned to himself. He actually grinned when he caught those whispered words. He stood up and stretched, then looked down at Ame, still grinning. âNow, letâs get out of this rain, hm? Head home and make a nice cup of tea?â
âSounds great.â she reached for his hand when he offered it, like the gentleman he is, and carefully got back up onto her feet, knees sore from sitting in the position she did the whole time.
Connie gave her hand a gentle squeeze, then set off out of the alley. He assumed that Ame had taken care of the body, so he put that worry from his mind. He made his way through town to his apartment, making small talk with Ame along the way. After climbing the stairs to his place, he opened the door and gestured for her to enter. âAfter you, madam.â
She chuckled, swearing to god that he had to be the last existing gentleman on Earth. Kicking her shoes off to put to the side, she took a step inside-
-forgetting the extra step at the doorway.
She tripped over it and fell face-first onto the wooden floorboard, groaning in pain when she lifted her face off the surface, rubbing her nose. Knowing sheâd just embarrassed herself in front of Connie again, she hurried into the living room, shoulders and back hunched to hopefully hide her shame for her poor performance in such a simple task of climbing one step.
Connie rushed after her, putting comforting hands on Ameâs shoulders. âYou okay, sweetie? You need and ice pack?â Without waiting for an answer, he guided her to the couch and sat her down there before striding into the kitchen, going to the freezer and grabbing the icepack, then rushing back to her side
She couldnât even answer his questions, he just seemed to move instinctively and brought her the ice pack anyways, not that she actually needed it.
âUh- thanks but, I donât...really need iT-!?â she blushed again when Connie narrowed the distance between their faces to carefully rub the ice pack against her nose, making sure it wasnât bruising or anything.
âIâm fine, Iâm fine!â she grabbed his wrists to stop him. âT-tea! Mmm, wow! I could go for that cup of tea now!â
She was flustered, face red and heart beating furiously.
Connie was so focused on making sure Ame was okay that he didnât notice her blushing. At first. Once she had him restrained and he noticed what she said, he saw the blush on her face. He grinned slightly. âYou know you look cute when you're flustered right?â
âTEA-!â Amelia continued, raising her voice to hide her embarrassment.
âI could- really- GO FOR SOME TEA-â she eventually surrendered and sank into the couch, burying her face in her hands as Connie refused to move out of the way for her to get up and go to the kitchen.
âDammit Connie.â
Even through all the fluster, she found herself smiling like a total idiot.
Connie chuckled warmly and stood up. âYou know you love me,â he called teasingly as he walked back into the kitchen. Humming a little tune, he got out the mugs and set them on the counter, then turned his attention towards making the brew. He walked out a few minutes later, the mugs in his hands. âHere ya go,â he said, giving Ame her mug.
âWhy thank you, kind sir.â she spoke in a sing-song tone, pulling the mug close to her lips and taking in the gentle whiff of Earl Grey. This man certainly had good taste, thatâs for sure. She took a sip, gazing out the window to see that the rain had gotten heavier.
Ugh.
She wasnât going to be able to walk home at this rate, and it was already way too late to go around looking for a cab.
âYou mind if I stayed the night?â
Connie took a sip of his tea, savoring the flavor and warmth as it went down. He glanced out the window once Ame asked her question. He quickly reached the same conclusion. âOf course you can stay. Be rather rude to just toss you back out their after tea, no?â He smiled softly as he sipped again.
âAnd rude doesnât suit you.â she chuckled, taking another sip before setting the cup down  on the coffee table.
â....mind if I-â she coughed. âBorrow your clothes or something then-â pass
He chuckled with her. âRudeness has never really been my style.â He listened to her question as it finally dawned on him that her clothes were probably soaked. âOf course! Iâll go see if I can find something thatâll fit.â He also set his cup down before heading off to his room.
When he came back with a plain blue T-shirt and shorts in hand, she could already tell they were a tad bit oversized. The look on Connieâs face had âIâm sorryâ written all over it as well. She accepted it nonetheless, and headed into the bathroom to change.
It took a while for her to adjust the pants so that it wouldnât keep falling, but she managed, and stepped out of soon after.
â...this is a T-shirt??â she questioned, tugging on the bottom that covered up nearly the entire shorts she was wearing.
Connie simply responded with a âyesâ.
âOh.â she tried to keep the pants from falling, occasionally holding onto it as she made her way back to the living room to flop back down onto the couch, letting out a relaxed sigh.
âIâll be sleeping on the couch then!â she smiled, grabbing the fluffy white pillows that leaned against the armrest.
Connie was squeeing internally the moment she came back. She just looked soâŠâŠ damn⊠cute. He honestly just wanted to give her a hug right there just because of the cuteness. It actually took him a few seconds before registering what she said. âWait what?  No you're not! Youâre going to be sleeping in my bed. Iâll get the couch. You deserve the rest more than I do. Especially after today.â
âWH- NO- I-I-I couldnât possibly-â she drew a breath, hugging the pillow close. âIâM TAKING THE COUCH, ITâS COMFORTABLE ENOUGH.â
She lay down on the couch, burying her face in one of the extra pillows to muffle a scream.
She should have just found another way to head home, but here she is, embarrassed to hell by the charming man that sat beside her. pass
Connie was having none of it. Without even saying a word, he stood up, walked over to the couch, and rolled her over. âIâm sorry, but youâre not sleeping out here. Not on my watchâ He picked her up bridal style, and carried her to his bedroom.
âcoNNIE-â
Before she knew it she was carried into the room and placed onto his single bed in the corner.
âIâm serious! Iâm fine with the couch, you donât have to-â
And then he stared at her with his arms-crossed-itâs-for-your-own-good-young-missy look. She knew there was no changing his mind now, so she sighed and lay down, pouting at him before pulling the blankets over her head.
âIf you ever sleepover at my place, you get the couch too.â she said in a muffled voice.
He shrugs. âSounds fair to meâ He starts to walk out of the room-
Then the idea struck him.
He blushed a little at it. It was a good idea but⊠theyâve never done it before. Not like it's anything dirty either, he told himself. He sighed, and turned back around, walking to the bed. âA compromise, then.â He waited till Amelia peeped out of the blankets. âWeâŠâŠ umâŠâŠ we umâŠ.â he scratched the back of his head, the blushing getting worse.
âWe couldâŠ.. Sleep togetherâŠ.. If you like.â Pass
Amelia let out a small gasp and buried her face into the pillow to let out another muffled scream, face burning up like a furnace. It took a few seconds of silence for things to calm down before she finally responded with a tiny âokayâ, wiggling aside to give him some space to climb in, but still refusing to turn away from the wall to face him.
Connie gulped, feeling his face burning. Now I know how it feels. With a timid slowness, he got into the bed with her. With the limited space, he was practically spooning her. There was no good place to put his arms, he put one over her waist. He felt like screaming like Ame.
YetâŠâŠ. He couldnât deny it feltâŠâŠ. Nice.
âG-g-good-â she bit her lip to stop her stuttering. âGood night-â
âG-good night A-ame,â he stuttered back. âIâŠ.. I l-l-love you.â God this was so awkwardâŠ.. Yet having her this close, in his armsâŠâŠ He couldn't tell what he felt exactly. A whole whirlpool of emotions was his best guess.
He sighed and closed his eyes. But sleep wouldn't come easy.
A few hours later, and the two were sound asleep. Ame had turned around in her sleep, so that their noses were almost touching.
Itâd make a nice surprise in the morning.
Added that last bit in cause Iâm trash. XD
Also, Sai drew this really cute pic of Ame in Connie's clothes, but I canât seem to transfer it from the doc to here. Sheâll just have to post it separately. Anyway, hope you enjoy our silliness. :3
