In the resin pyrogenation process (which is used to make some fossil resins soluble in solvents) there is a significant loss in weight of the resin which can also amount to half the total weight. This weight loss is due to the release of crystallized water, essential oils and gas formation (hydrogen sulphide and carbon monoxide if I remember correctly). And so? Then the resin must be re-weighed after the pyrogenation and then the resin oil ratio can be established otherwise it is likely to make a varnish in a ratio of 1: 2.5 (that's why it remains liquid) instead of 1: 1 The first dilution must be done at high temperatures (140-150 degrees), otherwise much of the resin will be decanted and the varnish cloudy, the dilution will also allow the varnish to mature and the impurities to fall to the bottom.
