This close up shot of an Ambahan, displayed in the National Museum of the Philippines, was made by Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan awardee, the Mangyan poet, Ginaw Bilog (1953-2003). Ambahan is a metaphoric poem with seven-syllable lines etched on bamboo tubes used in conveying messages among the Hanunuo Mangyan of southern Mindoro. Ambahan uses the Surat Mangyan, one of the 4 remaining syllabic scripts still in use in the #Philippines. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ltbkvBlLO/?igshid=6tk5ml2co9aj
