I haven't really seen the discussions as of lately but around 2020 people would compare NBC's The Good Place to Amazon Prime's Upload although there's not much to compare at all. They are both comedies about the afterlife. That's it.
One is the real afterlife. The Good Place gives us discussions of death, relationships, morality, and the complexities of being human today with lovable characters. It is "the stupidest intellegent show you'll find on live TV"
While the other is set in the future where there are a digital life extensions. Upload gives us visualizations of capitalism, classism, and the impact of technology with a star-crossed lovers. It is intriguing yet also stupid in a way.
Both are favorites of mine. Both I would highly recommend. Both have their merits.
