Can’t Live Without Your Love
What’s up everybody, Happy Friday!
Today’s review is titled Can’t Live Without Your Love by Coffee Jones!
It’s a lot going on in this book, but you definitely won’t be bored..and now that I’m looking, I see part 2 is already out (yasss…I hate waiting!) so I am excited about that.
There’s 4 characters I’m going to touch on. Starting with the main character, King. He’s the head of “The Nation” which is his family..they practically run (literally selling everything from drugs to women)  and the only way you can leave the Nation is by death. They have their own rules and standards they live by, and you must do things accordingly. However, he is having issues with keeping his sister Kira in line.
In the beginning of the book, Kira is taking care of King’s son Micah in a secluded area... Obviously it’s for protection, but Kira makes a mistake…causing him to have to send her away and step up as Micah’s father. Throughout the book you see Kira struggling between doing what she wants, and doing what the Nation requires from her. I was rooting for her…but I’m worried she might slip again..cuz chile, she is hard headed as hell.
But back to King…he meets and falls in love with Mija, and this is where the issues really arise. Mija is a part of a cartel…that already has issues with the Nation, and her brother Emilio is NOT having this relationship at all so he does all that he can to keep her occupied. Each side has their own rules…so they must oblige.
Until they devise a plan.
But you gotta read to see if that plan works..
Honestly…at the end of the book..it looks like a fail…but I’ll read part 2 to see if they managed to make it do what it do. Lol I honestly don’t know..I’m really not being vague this time.
But there’s another character who is dealing with issues of his own…King’s brother from another mother Keao. He’s the right hand man..and has finally gotten the woman he’s longed for after all this time..but her father not feeling him much…and she doesn’t know much about the Nation..so we have to see if she’s willing to go through this blind and unaware.
Yeah..I’m not joining no Nation. Lmao!
I enjoyed reading this. Honestly, I think the addition of this whole Nation business brought a new element to the book. In most books, you see these guys selling drugs with no plan or anything in motion. They practically winging it. But with King, you could tell he had everything mapped out and wanted to follow protocol just like his father would have wanted him to. You see him struggling with doing what the Nation wants, and trying to save his sister. However, King wasn’t my favorite. Keao was. He seemed so humble, and I felt he was more relatable. He was loyal, but he wasn’t cocky or had any ill intentions. He didn’t want the top spot. He was fine exactly where he was.
Kira…I’m not sure what I think about her just yet. She annoyed the hell out of me because she knew what she was getting into but kept doing what the hell she wanted to do. I’ll have to read part 2 to see what’s gonna happen with her. She doesn’t really seem to take the Nation seriously and is always looking for her brother to bail her out, which puts him in a bad spot because he’s in charge and trying to do things the Nation way.  If he finds out her secret, I don’t know what’s going to happen to her or their relationship.
