Kat I was thinking about us and here's what I came up with and you can publish it if you want: I want to have you in my life always and I want only good things for you. I hope you meet someone who you never feel like you're running out of spoons around and spend your life with them also. And I hope my children will know you as they grow up. And I hope one day when we're old and senile and our minds start to go we'll hang out with each other and think, "Maybe just one more day."
I'm publishing this so it'll be on my blog forever, because if I answered privately then it'd zip back to you and I would lose it.
I just wanted to say that I also want everything in the world to be good for you and that you'll never feel lonely and that you'll always be doing what you love and that your friends will always be beautiful (but hopefully less sad). I hope I never drop your children and that they'll learn to roll their eyes at me and go, 'Oh Kat, that is so creepy,' and that they'll buy me a cat every year and I can knit them misshapen socks while they're learning to ski in Canada or Russia or wherever. I hope the world will always delight you and that even when we have crippling arthritis in our hands, that we'll still be able to do our Snake/Otacon high-five.

Well, actually, it doesn't matter to me that he was a racist, misogynistic rapist. Because life is a joke and everything is just kind of inherently meaningless anyway and so his appeal to me is not so much that he chooses to be the hero even with the knowledge that the world has gone to hell, or any charms he might have, but rather that he doesn't try to redeem the world, or save it. The world is a scum-sucking roadwhore and it can try to crawl its way out of the gutter but rather than feeling responsible for it, the Comedian just laughs in its face and gets the fuck on with it. As he said, maybe his sense of humour is the only thing that makes sense - is that so bizarre?

(Yeah I feel really cynical tonight and I just want to say that I don't condone rape or racism or misogyny because even if I don't recognise any objective morality, there are things that I personally will and won't do - but that's relative to me. I fight for social justice on the basis of some kind of objective, universal acknowledge of human rights, but when it comes down to it I just think everything is down to perspective and I don't really believe in morality except as a societal construct. So really I am a massive hypocrite for thinking racist people are bad, but deal with it.)
