And Back Again | Andmanda
A guy like him didn’t have many options.
Home was out of the question. It was too risky. They’d found him once, there, and he had all his wits back then, which meant he had no hope now. A hospital wouldn’t do - he never even went to the doctor before, though it was his own stubbornness that kept him. Now it just felt like crawling straight into a spider web. He couldn’t chance it with his wings clipped. The morgue, though familiar, was tied too closely to the government, the facility no doubt scrutinized.
He couldn’t remember enough to think of other options. His head ached, a pounding in the base of the skull, and nothing he did would turn it off. Andy wondered, idly, through fog, why he kept feeling like he was missing a sense, a dead limb inside he couldn’t move.
But some things came through in lightning bursts. He could almost taste something buttery sweet and colorful; he remembered the cords to a sad, twangy song; he knew his birthday but not his age. He hadn’t forgotten these things - there was just too much in his head to recall specifics on command.
At a pay phone, one of the few ancient relics left of the sort, with found coins he asked information for the vet. It took three minutes before the automation gave up on trying to understand his mumbling, and passed him through to a real person, who told him the vet was closed, but the animal shelter might still be open. Another part of him, a sleepy, lost part he couldn’t pull up, wanted to hurl curses at them for thinking that alternative could possibly help him, but instead, he just hung up, a metallic clatter in the vacant street, after they gave him the address.
It was dark and locked, no matter how hard he jostled the doors. The glass rattled when he hit, annoyed, forehead first, but he only noticed the softer sound that followed - paper rustled against it from inside, a scrap taped against the pane. In case of emergencies.
Andy knew the name. He knew how long it had been since he heard or saw it, roughly, give or take. He let himself laugh about it, in loopy chuckles, while he walked the nine blocks to the address it left, ruminating on strange serendipity and trying to get missing pieces of the connection to fall into place. If he didn’t try to think about it, his legs took him down streets he memorized back when he needed to.
He forgot to knock. The scenery distracted him. His head hit the door when he leaned forward to catch his breath, though, a thump louder than he’d anticipated.
“Jesus, Desmond. And I thought your old place was shit.”
word vomit abt my version of amanda! she’s latinx, just white passing. her father is dominican while her mother is puerto rican, her mother was born in america while her father was born in D.R both families respectively have a long bloodline tied to the puerto rican and dominican mafia which is a big explanation for most of the money the hess' have amanda's father is a business man, her mother is a fashion designer they're both very busy and weren't very apparent in her life her mother made her do pageants and ballet and dance practices, but she was only ever there for the pageants unless amanda was winning a crown at the age of three, her parents were no show's. it's not that they didn't love amanda, they did, they really did but they were busy, and just not able to show it well amanda's father has a hard time expressing himself, which is where amanda gets that from and her mother is quite cold on the outside but they're a perfect match they truly love each other which is why their marriage has worked for so long amanda came at a wrong time, she wasn't planned but she was their daughter none the less even if she hates them and would rather tell the entire world that they're dead bc they're dead to HER, they still love her amanda was a wild child, she still is she's a very bitchy girl, who isn't afraid to drag someone lmao she does have a soft heart, it's like ,,,, her weakness when it comes to certain people, she's not all ice but that doesn't mean she isn't still a bitch she isn't happy nor sad, she's kind of emotionally neutral she's gotten rid of most of her feelings bc feelings don't do her any good, she learned that at an early age she's confident and has always been confident, years of pageants and recitals having taught her that's what you need she's also familiar with disappointment, she knows it all too well her parents are disappointments, everyone around her she views as disappointments it's hard for mandy to make friend's bc everyone judges her for what she puts out, and they don't take time to get to know her she has trust issues and she lies, it's a defense mech she's only got herself tbh she spends a lot of her time at the mall / shops, shopping her heart out bc of the fact that, that's all she really knows materialistic things are bandaids for her she has no friends, no real ones at least mandy is definitely the life of any party, even when she's not there she's her own party, she's a sun and everything and everyone revolves around her, that's how it is she's an enigma tbh ?? the only person i can compare her to is rachel amber. this is hella messy but i’m emotional about amanda and i’m crying !!!!!!! DON’T REBLOG.
