BORG - Mission Impossible
Swedish for fortress, Amanda Ingeborg Runestam's "BORG" is where she finds solace and protection. Previously associated with acts such as The Honeydrips and Olov Antonsson, the Stockholm artist’s latest endeavor speaks on a more personal level; telling her stories of both love and its anxieties. It’s these aforementioned sentiments that find themselves explained on “Mission Impossible”, where storytelling lyrics narrate of hope lost and found. Prancing with its theatrical strut, jolting percussion thunders over the swooning emotion and howling sentiment. Spilling over trickling arpeggios and the honeyed soothe from Amanda’s embracing vocal warmth, the track speaks in great magnitudes as Runestam explains:
"It's a song about dreadful indecisiveness. About a spring of going back and forth, only to realize that as autumn comes you're still in the same place. I find my stories to find energy in that clash of sweet and dreadful, and I think it reflects on the sound."
BORG’s “Mission Impossible” is preceded by her EP tracks from 2019′s “Honest and Cool” including the snappy funk of its title track; the hallowed reverb and lofty carry of “Baptise” with its cosmic Nordic disco; the percolating depth and seamless flow of piano ballad “Nonstop” and the emotional depth of its spacious beckon on “Scuba Diving”:
