BNHAverse quirkless rant
Just something I was thinking about. It’s stated in canon at the very beginning that around 20% of population is quirkless (i’ve checked the wikia just to make sure), yet you don’t really see it.
Sure the entire plot focuses on the heroes, hence those with strong quirks, yet despite the fact that literally 1 out of 5 people in the world doesn’t have any powers, you don’t see any quirkless people, even as background characters. There aren’t any mentions of quirkless people besides Izuku and All Might (the heroes who got their quirks takes away don’t count, since they were still born with a quirk).
We know that long time ago the first quirk manifested in China, and since then there was a boom of people born with powers, so it’s safe to say that over time the quirks outnumbered the quirkless. It’s never explained how genetics work in the universe, some of the scenarios I’ve been thinking about:
if a quirkless person and a person with a quirk have a child, what are the chances or their offspring being quirkless, versus inheriting a quirk form the other parent
if a quirk gene is dominant that would explain a somehow fast skip in evolution (the time when the first quirk appears seems to somewhat around our times, maybe a decade or two earlier, while the canon takes place in not so distant future, although correct me if im wrong on that)
i was wondering if part of the reason for such fast decline in quirkless people would be the fact that as the quirks became more widespread the quirkless started getting taunted and bullied by those with powers, which means it was less likely for a quirkless person to get in a relationship with a quirk person and have children.
Possible angst scenario - what if there were radical groups trying to rid the world of quirkless in some countries, believing that they were weak and those people should go extinct to purify the race (getting real dark real fast? sorry but i feel like it’s a rather dark, yet realistic sounding possibility given that the history tends to repeat itself and i cant imagine the bnhaverse having somewhat better morales than the world we live in given the evidence of how badly izuku was bullied for being quirkless, but the genocide of quirkless is something for another discussion)
So the point I was getting at was, given how evolution works, it’s plausible to beleive that each year less quirkless people are born due to evolution and dominant genetics, meaning that out of those 20% of quirkless people it’s safe to say that more of them are older people for previous generations.
What I’m getting at is that I find it highly unlikely that let’s say, out of the entire class 1-a there wouldn’t be at least one or two quirkless parents/siblings/relatives. Maybe there are but they just havent made an appearance yet in the story and we will see some later on. I truly hope so, because I feel like despite the fact that the life of quirkless was shown from izuku’s point of view it’s rsther brief, his previous identity gets quickly swept under the rug by the narrative, which is a shame really, since i’d love to see more of bnhaverse form the point of view of quirkless people.
