Jack hadn't meant to be gone for so long, he really hadn't. But he had got into a fight and forgotten all about Hel. He didn't even know how much time had passed but it felt like a long time to track down Hel. He sat on the window sill and tapped the window with his staff, watching as ice spread across it.

Hel was living by herself, and much happier for it. Her brothers and step mother came over and visited whenever they could, but the space of her own away from the father and the rest of her family helped - she felt less stressed then she had in a long time. Walking in one afternoon after her shift at work, she frowned when she noticed the single frosted window. It reminded her of something from when she was little, but she just couldn’t put her finger on it.
