it's been awhile since he decided to take his son out. it's not like he doesn't,
but he usually brings all of his kids at once. he doesn't like to show favoritism,
though he's beginning to learn each child needs their own time sometimes. &
given his son's growing powers & sensitivity to the tension in the house, he'd
like to spend some time with him & get out. the small boy is giggling as his
father lifts him up, wiggling him around, & he pulls him back to his chest to
kiss over the toddler's cheeks. “ you're a mess, bud. don't tell mama you ate,
like.. that entire ice cream cone by yourself. ”
& after the boy mumbles something about mama, brian moves to sit on the
park bench, son set on his lap. it isn't until olive reaches over & smudges
ice cream on the girl's shirt who's sat next to them.
“ oh my god, um -- if you, like.. want to come
to my house i bet my wife could get that stain out. ”
