#always!

I don't think Sir Terry (whose plans for Our Ineffables are said to be the basis for S3) would take away the inspiration of our everyday-heroes, flawed and lovable as they are, to suddenly make them powerful enough to conquer heaven alone. They were afraid of Gabriel in S2, from his previous uses of power and authority. His SMITING. And other Archangels like Michael and Uriel, and Sandalphon (whatever level of psycho-Being he actually is!) are still up there, even if Saraquel turns out to be a secret ally.

The Metatron alone is far more powerful than the former Prince of Heaven. Both Aziraphale and Crowley, each in their own way, showed anxiety, fear, and frustration as they watched the Metatron (in E6) manipulate the scene with unchecked authority. They can't match him.

I believe they scrambled for a plan, yes, but they will only be armed with their cleverness and their Ineffable Devotion to each other and to Humanity.

And that fits the type of hero Sir Terry Pratchett typically wrote about. I do love the idea of one of them (or both!) being set free from some memory wipe, status loss, etc, to become a Magnificently Powerful Hero. But I don't think those are the kind of heroes Good Omens wants to give us, glorious as that would be. We can't truly be inspired by a Superhero's power -- only by their heart.

Now, don't get me wrong! I absolutely expect we'll see heart-rending heroics from both Aziraphale and Crowley by the end of those dramatic 90 minutes! They'll break into the records, or use wit and reason to expose a fatal weakness, or courageously confront a powerful opponent, or risk anything and everything to save each other and the World...

THEY WILL BE HEROES...!!!!

(and I will raze heaven and earth myself if they don't get that South Downs Cottage!!!)

The First Armageddon was won by a gang of kids, a rag-tag quartet of bonded humans, Our Ineffables, and an AntiChrist, the Son of Satan.

Armageddon 2.0 will be another mirror. We see a host of players in the Intro credit sequence to S2. Bonded humans, angels and former angels, bonded pairs, Our Ineffables, and... the Christ, the Son of God. (second photo)

Our Ineffables are the keystones. The Catalyst. Some hocus pocus and a whole lot of Cleverness and Courage, they lead the march on heaven. A loving, devoted, eternal Us.

But it's by being part of an even bigger Team, a Group, an Us that they'll succeed.

And they'll inspire us all...!
