You probably shouldn't be calling yourself blind or deaf considering you're not even if it's in a "oh haha I didn't hear you I'm so deaf" way. 

And naw I didn't say it at all like fat people were just miserable rolling lumps of fat but fat people do experience discrimination and extreme mocking and face lots of emotional abuse for their size plus people butting in on their personal life with their "concern for their health" when they don't know anything about them. Fat people face a lot of bullshit. Like people are definitely allowed to have a negative self image and want to get slimmer for their own benefit but the whole "I'm fat" thing resonates in that sort of "If you think YOU'RE fat what must you think of actually fat people? Probably nothing good" way.

John Green also has a tendency to associate fatness with, like, eating pizza and being unhealthy, which, again, links fatness back to unhealthiness and leads to people being fucking assbags about body positivity. Like he can say he eats a lot all he wants. He can say he's unhealthy all he wants. He can say he wants to be trimmer or more fit all he wants, but he needs to stay the hell away from "fat."

It's not about lying it's more about giving people hope for the future? I know that things are often stagnant as fuck. But John Green portrays adulthood in this really bland, boring, almost pointless light that was very upsetting and shocking for a LOT of teenagers. Like yeah things don't always get better, sometimes they get worse. Getting older is hard and going out into the real world is hard and things are hard and life isn't this easy peasy lemon squeezy thing. The point is giving people HOPE for the future.

Telling them that yeah, things might suck right NOW, but things can and do change. Nothing necessarily stays the same forever. You can get out of this. It might take a while, but things can improve. It shouldn't just be "adulthood sucks, case and point. everything is awful and nothing gets better. you know where you're at right now? suicidal, poor, the victim of abuse? yeah that's as good as it gets everything is downhill from here haha have fun finding the will to continue living after your idol has told you this."
