What is AlumaComp and how do you use it? This is a question I'm asked many times as I am painting my entire Dante's Inferno series on 40 of them. AlumaComp is made by the art supply company Jerry's Artarama @jerrysartarama and is a two sided panel with brushed aluminum on one side and smooth aluminum on the other. In between is a polyurethane core. The panels are lightweight and archival. To prepare, pull off the protective film, brush on two coats of oil or acrylic gesso and afterwards you can sand them smooth. I use a 220 grit pad sander. Hope this helps!
