I went to Music Midtown in Atlanta last year (go check out the post if you haven’t) and it was so much fun. Apart from the festival, we also did some sightseeing. If you’re looking for things to do in Atlanta then you are on the right page!
Apparently, Coca Cola started in Atlanta, so we thought we had to go to World of Coca Cola. Tbh, there was not a lot to see but one interesting part is we got to try all the Coca Cola products from around the world for free and for as much as you like. They all ended up tasting quite similar, with lots of sugar but it was interesting to see how Coca Cola has many different flavors worldwide.
We also had many great food while we were there but one place I particularly enjoyed and it was Rays in the City in downtown Atlanta. We had brunch there and I highly recommend it if you’re in that area. I had my first chicken and waffle and it was really good and I now understand why it’s such a big thing. The waffle is warm and soft while the chicken tenders are soft in the inside and crunchy on the outside. And of course we had room for dessert! We shared a blueberry cake with vanilla ice cream and a chocolate delight, which had some berries, chocolate mousse and pralines.
We also went to Ponce City Market, where there are loads of food stalls and some trendy and unique boutiques and stores. Its a great place to spend an afternoon in and as most of the stores are not chain stores, you probably won’t find them anywhere else.
I’m always on the hunt for new cafes and I found this cafe near the festival venue. It’s called Momo cafe and they serve elevated tea and cakes. By elevated, I mean the food they offer is one step up from the usual food you get in a cafe. We had a matcha strawberry latte, a regular latte and a lychee earl grey cheesecake. The matcha latte was really good, the strawberry sauce cuts some of the bitterness from the matcha. The lychee cheesecake has a lighter taste, so pairing it with the matcha latte was not a good idea as the matcha taste almost covered the light and refreshing lychee and earl grey flavor. The environment of the cafe is very nice as well with lots of sunlight and plants, creating a peaceful environment.
Another fun thing to note is that there are electric scooters around in Atlanta which you can rent like share bikes. It was my first time riding them and although it took me some time to get the hang of it, it was a fun experience. We rode on lime and Bird while we were there and you simply have to download an app to ride it! I know these electric scooters are present in other states as well but it was my first time seeing it in Atlanta.
Atlanta certainly was out of my expectation. Although it was a last-minute trip, it definitely was one of my highlights while I’m at the States!
