Gonna try letting our fictive alters be more openly themselves online when they want to be. None of us are claiming ownership of any properties we came from, & see ourselves as very separate, distinct iterations of said characters. Think of us more as... AUs given form? This is especially true for those of us whose appearances were influenced by any particular artist, in the case of alters from podcasts for example.
We don't control what alters we get. We don't control how they look, what they do to help us, beyond communication with one another, which... That's just how you interact with anyone. Right...? Anyway, I'm probably rambling but I just wanted to make a little post stating this stuff because people get weird about fictives?
Therapy is a thing; each of us is acutely aware we are not literally, say, Gordon Freeman from Half-Life (not an alter in our system, random example) - we are a 4'10" queer transmasc/agender individual who, because of severe trauma & having to learn to cope with that from a very young age, developed people inside who could handle what we couldn't, do what we couldn't, be who we couldn't.
This doesn't mean we don't deserve respect or care. We are not however you envision these characters in your minds, & don't expect or try to be. We're our own people.
