Their new weapon hadn't ceased to be skittish, but become even more so, Vinda had been told by one of the spies working under her – so skittish, in fact, that both of them feared he was about to become useless to Gellert's plans.
“It won't do, my dear, if the boy doesn't feel at home soon,” Gellert had told her the very moment she'd reported back to him. “Am I asking too much of you if I request you take care of the matter personally?”
“Rest assured, Gellert. That has been my intention from the beginning. You can leave him to me and focus on what is truly important.”
Wasting no time to get to work, Vinda asked one of the servants about the young man, who had formerly been known as 'Credence', and soon, she found him pacing one of the castle's long hallways and looking rather nervous and uncomfortable.
“Are you lost?” Vinda asked, careful to not approach him too abruptly, and her intonation made it ambiguous whether the question was of a literal or metaphorical nature. “Would you like some tea?”
