Okay but you cannot drop ‘Hermione is Grindelwald but a girl’ in the tags of a post and NOT expand on it.
I talked about this a little here, when I discussed how “Voldemort Wins” BDSM AUs are super interesting to me but also how I’m frustrated by people assuming Hermione wouldn’t leave England immediately and go ask Grindelwald to tutor her in being a Dark Lord so that she could kick Tommy Noseless’s ass, and I also discussed my feelings on Grindelwald here and here - I recommend reading all three of these but the tldr is that (1. Hermione’s capacity to go “nobody’s coming to save me and other Muggleborns but me, I better get on that shit” is criminally underrated and too-easily ignored by the fandom at large imho, (2. Hermione is the only one of the Golden Trio or really of her generation who seems to be at all interested in taking part in politics and making institutional and social changes from the top-down, something Grindelwald pursued both in book canon and in FB canon, and (3. Grindelwald himself is best understood when you make deliberate and serious efforts to decouple him from Rowling’s perspective on him and the conclusions she desires the reader to come to.
The only thing that I have to add is that Hermione, like Grindelwald, favors an authoritarian approach to problem-solving. She forms a secret society of insurgents and delegates running it to Harry, and by the end of the series (really by book four; I think PoA is a major radicalization moment for her) she doesn’t trust existing power structures or social systems to fix things and relies primarily on her own strength and intelligence and charisma. She has a serious problem with finding people who are her intellectual equals, and her love for and respect for Ron seem to be built on the fact that he’s able to be emotionally knowledgeable in ways she isn’t and that he can act as a kind of anchor when she starts flying off the handle. (note to self: add this to the Alphard Appendix. hmmm.)
Both Hermione and Grindelwald are stepping outside the lines at school with shocking regularity by the time their academic careers are over, both Hermione and Grindelwald did not graduate, both Hermione and Grindelwald are confident in their own intelligence, both Hermione and Grindelwald are passionate about fixing the world as they see fit, both Hermione and Grindelwald are casually prejudiced in callous ways, and both Hermione and Grindelwald are manipulative and willing to compromise the autonomy of and independence of people they care about to achieve a desired result. Obliviating the Grangers into going to Australia is a very “for the greater good/it’s for their own good” moment that’s highly reminiscent of some of the preserved letters between Albus and Gellert about how wizards ought to rule Muggles, and manipulating the centaurs into disposing of Umbridge by tricking her into being horribly racist and then having to face the consequences of her actions is a much more Grindelwald trick than a Voldemort one. (There’s nothing I can directly cite in the books here, but it’s very similar to his rally in FB2 where he provokes the French Aurors into killing a civilian and showcases the brutality of the system to the rest of the audience, who he charges with Apparating away and spreading the word that the authorities needlessly killed someone at a peaceful gathering.)
Gellert Grindelwald is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction, and I’m very willing to admit this is because I’ve done a lot of work behind the scenes, but in this case the similarities to Hermione really leap off the page imho. Especially since Rowling developed his political ambitions post-Cursed Child, when she’s confirmed to be Minister for Magic.

Finally, real Huaso posting by me and not just reblogs. I love him so much.
Since I'm writing my first Nico featured piece of writing, I've been reading some Nico fics to warm up to how people write him.
However, I'm stuck on what 'pet names' for a partner (male or female...no spoilers) he would use. There's not many examples I've come across in [brocedes] fics I've skimmed.
There's mainly been 'schatz' ... do we think this makes sense? Would there be any others that could work [better]?

Just a reminder to any prospective homunculus owners that homunculi are normally very solitary creatures and putting more then two in the same household will most likely result in bickering and a rivalry.
the materials added to the substrate can be altered to make the homunculus more social but most (e.g. giant ant extract, bee testes.) are very expensive and prone to causing violent failure in the mixture.
if you need more hands to stir your bubbling cauldrons and sort your arcane ingredients consider small golems or magical constructs. besides, homunculi are often small and unsuited to laborious tasks. despite their creation process, they are still creatures that get tired. especially intelligent homunculi (like ones grown with genuine human brain matter, tough to come by these days) are more suited to managing the lesser constructs while you are away fireballing paladins and making vagrants have horrible visions of the end times.
