As for your first question, a couple of my fics are very dear to me for different reasons. I'd say my most beloved is Treading Water because I just loved working on it and I'm kinda proud of the imagery and in it. Aryll is a factor, too, she's a delight to write (and free real estate, since Nintendo refuses to give BOTW Link a canonical family :/).

Come Morning Light is also dear to me because I poured a lot of love into it and, up until then, I thought myself incapable of writing fluff. Look how far the self-indulgent gremlin has come since then lol.

Now, your second question... just one longform fic???!! You can't make me choose!!!! You KNOW I have at least 3 longfics "planned"!!!! The audacity!!!!

AB. SO. LUTELY.

It's such a good little gem of a game. It's obvious that a lot of love and heart and soul was put into it as the Final Fantasy's swan song on PS1 - the story, the characters, the world-building, the callbacks to the older games.

It's a favourite of mine because it's almost deceptive, really: look at the cover! With the cute chibi characters, and it's funny, quirky and light-hearted....until Brahne's committed her first genocide, or Vivi's being forced to face that he was built for war and has an incredibly short life span, or Dagger's put through loss after loss after loss.

And oh man, Vivi. It completely went over my head the first time I play FFIX, years ago, that the game was basically saying 'Vivi died and these are his last words to his friends'. Second time round I got it. I cried. Bittersweet as fuck, the ending is.

First of all, I'm probably stealing this one because holy shit what a title. Second of all, this screams bagginshield. So many possibilities!!

pulitzer: tell about/link a piece where you felt your writing was the best.

Out of my published fics, I feel like All That You Rely On and Praestrigia have some of my best prose. I really like how the first one came out, and Praestrigia is my latest so it stands to reason it'll look better to me than some of my earlier works.

carnegie: what authors and/or books/stories have inspired you to write or influenced your work?

Say what you will about His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, but those books really struck a chord with me when I was little. There are many authors I admire (like Jack London and Neil Gaiman), but I'd say those are the books that have stayed with me the longest without any resentment associated to them, if you know what I mean.

backstory: how did you come to love writing?

The more books I devoured as a kid, the more I wanted to create something myself too. To have someone read my stories and smile. But I didn't truly entertain the idea until a certain teacher in high school created a little writing club and I joined it.

I never wrote anything even remotely good during my time in that club, nor did that teacher give any groundbreaking advice, but she was so, so enthusiastic, earnest and supportive of us that I felt no fear of failure or ridicule around her. She just cheered us on, and brought us snacks and little exercises, and made sure we had a fun time together and I'll never, ever forget it. The sweetest old lady ever, with one of the kindest smiles I've ever seen.

faulkner: what tropes do you LOVE writing? which ones are your guilty pleasure?

Found family and slow burn and will forever and always be my favorite tropes I think. As for guilty pleasure....... probably touch starvation lmao. And I would dearly love to try my hand at a silly bodyswap AU of sorts one day, but not necessarily with revalink.
