The Highlands Copperhead or Alpine Copperhead (Austrelaps ramsayi) is a highly venomous snake found in New South Wales and Victoria in Australia. Unlike its desert counterparts, this species prefers watery area such as swamps and streams. It is common among the Australian Alps, from which is garners its common names. Though envenomation is potentially very dangerous, bites are uncommon.
