Although the Lunar System is not a mutant themselves, they are an ally to mutants. Not only do they have mutant friends, but they also have a strong sense of justice. Besides, with them being Jewish, the anti-mutant sentiment reminds them all too well of similar bigotry that happened not so long ago.
Northstar is a polarizing figure, with some people viewing him as a radical pro-mutant terrorist while others consider him a hero. Others's opinion of the man matter little to the Lunar System. They will come to their own conclusions themselves.
They are given a chance to observe Northstar first hand, with them unexpectedly crossing paths while investigating a string of serial killings. "Should have known you were looking into this too... Any leads?"
from my understanding, northstar and aurora's powers are essentially the same, so i give them similar quirks, habits, & hcs -- hypopigmented skin, silver freckles, silver specks in their black hair, pointed ears, as well as traits like impatience, recklessness, quick temper, anything related to being fast and bright, as well as them both tending to use french casually; they're twins, so they have the same big threes of zodiac too, and i like to imagine that neither of them knows who the older twin is, it just depends on their mood and who's in trouble more. that said, their personalities, motives, and actual behaviours are not the same, and there are some core differences like: northstar is faster than aurora & the fasted mutant in general, aurora's lights are brighter and more diffused and ethereal-like, their ears are expressive like cats but in different ways & are sensitive to touch in different ways (i'd even go as far to say jp's ears aren't that sensitive), jp's use of french is more dramatic, while aurora uses french to be formal and distinguished. although they live together, aurora is more outwardly averse to wealth, luxury, socialisation, and the like -- but not entirely, either, it's something she'd need to stop feeling self-conscious about first. jeanne-marie also has the patience to actually read, write, and sit down with things, with northstar absolutely lacks, making him horrible at meditation and reading comprehension, while aurora excels at both extremes (speed and stillness), making her the more tolerable one of the pair
↝ @alphafight ┊ "no, tommy, mon grand. i will not race you to australia and back. i'll take the loss in that bet and treat you to whatever sweets and pastries you want, it'll be more efficient that way. for you and me."
"ha! so you admit that you'd lose! I knew it-!" He exclaimed, grinning widely. "it'd be so fun though, so why not? are you really that boring? or just old?"

“cypher,” a casual two-digit salute from the speedster, then nodding as he’s given the allowance to step inside. “i, northstar, am here on the behalf of the x-factor investigations, and i shall keep this brief and to the point,” composed and regally formal as ever, jean-paul produces an enigmatic piece of paper for doug’s inspection, but he doesn’t hand it over yet.
“my team and i are currently investigating something of mild severity, details are negligible, and we stumbled upon this cryptic material, to put it coherently,” he’s not telling the full truth, mister beaubier always has had that way with words, of course; loud, fast, and obnoxious enough to wear down people’s patience and make them want him to leave at any cost. a fabulous strategy, with considerable side effects here and there but that’s neither here nor there.
“if you consent to this involvement, then my team would find it tremendously helpful if you decipher this for us, and i—” hand on chest, because of course. “—would be eternally grateful to you, monsieur ramsey, should you say yes.” please do, the x-factor is running out of options at this rate. certainly nothing to do with northstar’s bulldozer approach to, well, everything.
Doug could see plainly from both Northstar's body language and Doug's unique ability to read between the lines that Northstar was hiding something; but was that really unusual? Since his X-gene activated, Doug had been unusually privy to the fact that everyone was hiding something, all of the time. He didn't get the feeling Northstar was hiding anything more than usual--and besides, he still had every opportunity to come forward with the missing details. Doug wasn't going to accuse anyone of anything just yet.
Doug reached for the paper and, when it wasn't immediately given, took his hand back awkwardly and shoved it in the pocket of his jacket. "'Mild severity?'" Doug laughed, somewhat disbelievingly. "You have to tell me a little more than that if you want my help, pal. I mean, to be honest, I probably will help you either way, just because I'm curious, but... "
Doug removed his hand from his pocket to hold up a finger. "What exactly am I consenting to the involvement of? My dad was a lawyer, ya know. He taught me to always read the fine print."
✩ @alphafight said: “donna, mon amie, i wish you a very joyous mother’s day – the american version, anyway, you deserve the best anyway,” a dramatic sigh, that is soon undercut when he produces a present only northstar would consider the bare minimum: a gift basket with various self care items for relaxation, imported flowers, and of course, some starry themed jewellery pieces. “thank me not, jeanne-marie helped select most of these, actually.” a lighthearted, two-finger salute once his hands are freed, then with a smile and a glint in his eyes, he adds, “say hello to the little man for me, let him know i won’t be stealing any more of your quality mother-son time today, i’m very expeditious in these matters.”
" Ah my friend, you are too generous! " And perhaps the declaration that his twin sister had picked out most of the items for him helped her accept it without much of a fuss. If he chose to hand over the glory to Jeanne-Marie then Donna could, for once, act like she did not have to do the whole dance of trying to turn a gift down, to tell the gift bearer that it was far too much and she could not possibly accept such generosity. Clearly such words would have had to be directed at his twin sister and not Jean-Paul himself, therefore this would do just fine. You hear, it will do just fine — stop worrying about it, Donna!
She accepted the basket with a smile and a polite nod ( and still far more words about gratitude and thankfulness than were necessary ). " Well, tell your sister she has great taste, then. It is a lovely gift, thank you. " And with a laugh she added: " I will be sure to tell him his second favourite speedster said hi. He'll appreciate it. "
@alphafight asked: “david, my good man, bonne fête. you must allow me to throw you a birthday party, the finest anybody has seen. i have an educated guess of who i assume you’d like to see there — and i would be delighted to spark envy in those who shall be neither invited nor named explicitly. well?”
BIRTHDAY BOY DAVID!!!
David blinks at the offer, the initial smile at the well wishes fading. For a moment he stares at nothing, trying to picture what Jean-Paul would think is the ‘finest birthday party anybody has seen’. David isn’t certain that’s a thing he wants. He definitely appreciates the gesture, no one has ever wanted to throw him a huge party before, but it does sound like it’d be a lot.
“Ah … Merci, JP, but …,” he starts, pausing as he worries he’s going to sound ungrateful. “Look, mate, I’ll be the first to admit I’m a dramatic bitch and petty as fuck. Which means makin’ certain assholes jealous with the finest festivities sounds brilliant but … How loud are y’ thinkin’ this’ll be? An’ how many brains? I … I can get pretty overwhelmed in crowds and loud spaces.”
