He had to know. “Did it ever even mean anything to you?” Will froze, his entire body a tense line. He turned to Mack slowly, his expression incredulous. “What?” Mack clenched his jaw. “You heard me.”

Chapter 6: "mack is in his feelings and he can't get out of it"

Summary: This was a mess of his own making, and he only had his own hands to blame.

He just had to be greedy. He had to keep pushing and demanding more when the cliff’s edge was on the horizon. He’d passed every danger sign with hubris, assuming he’d somehow be the exception. The danger wouldn’t be able to catch up with him if he didn’t give it a face or a name, but then he had, and it had caught up with him, sinking its teeth into his flesh with cruel certainty.

He was heart-shaped, and bloody, and if he wanted something, the world would make sure he wouldn’t get it. But not without being dangled in front of him first: a carrot forever out of reach.

He didn’t know how many almost-maybes he had left in him.

Summary: Aiden was doing good, and more importantly, could put his dalliance behind him. It had been a lapse in judgment; that was all, and one that he was in the process of correcting.

He didn’t think about Leno fucking pretty blonde girls behind closed doors, or what he’d tasted like.

Aiden was busy and focused.

“He went into rut,” Lohrei said gravely. “At the end of the game.”

Connor stilled. “What?”

“Yeah,” Lohrei said with a sigh. “It was pretty gnarly.”

Connor's mind whirred.

Minty was in rut. He was in rut. Fucking rut. And Connor was in fucking Chicago.

Or, when Minty goes into surprise rut during a game, Connor gets on a plane.

will is absolutely mack’s guard dog. this is definitely me projecting and being parasocial but i can’t imagine a world where will doesn’t have beef with sheriff rick. mack and rick’s relationship is so juicy and one of my favorite things to explore because it’s soooo complicated.
