Idek if there's some kind of ABO etiquette or unwritten rules, or a "So You Want to Write ABO" guide out there somewhere bc I've never tried it, but Sonadow seems to magically bypass my usual preferences. It works so well in both directions too.
Alpha Sonic: confident, unwavering, protective, very similar to his canon personality (in which case; highly dominant but equally respectful of courtship and consent). General lack of interest in finding a mate / partner, until he meets Shadow.
Omega Shadow: if he could hide it better, you'd almost never know. Ignores social norms and consequently has very little experience with hiding the signs / body language, but will actually straight up kill anyone who tries to take advantage. Has, in fact, put some very stupid alphas in the hospital already. Should probably wear one of those yellow dog vests.
A!Sonic x O!Shadow: It takes a few years and a lot of persistence before Sonic can flirt with Shadow without Shadow trying to kill him, but they become a literal power couple.
Vs.
Omega Sonic: social butterfly and undisputed champion of likable extroverts. One of those people who has hundreds of friends on FB that they legitimately talk to and see regularly. Also very similar to canon, and is the poster child for "omega doesn't mean weak."
Alpha Shadow: there's a photo of him in the alpha page on wikipedia. Even his friends aren't sure if it's his instincts or if he's Just Like That. Doesn't care what other people are, doesn't bother trying to separate his instincts from his other thoughts and feelings, and (rightfully) doesn't believe he'd be all that different if he'd been an omega.
O!Sonic x A!Shadow: Shadow has zero experience with courtship and Sonic delights at the opportunity to introduce him to it, although it takes a long time for Shadow to reciprocate due to a multitude of emotional hangups (i.e., #300k words #slow burn #enemies to friends to lovers).
