The Boslics
Above is the Rionoj, a sexy smuggler captain and the first character to be referred to as a Boslic. She appeared on DS9 a couple of times, and Boslic ships docked there quite often.
However, all other confirmed Boslics we saw were male and looked like this. So fans generally assumed that the species displayed significant sexual dimorphism. Later though, a male with the female-type Boslic make-up appeared in the background on Enterprise, although no one ever came out and said he was a Boslic.
The books reveal their home planet is called Cort and expanded media muddied the waters around their different appearances. They tend to agree that the purple hair is common in women, which is cool.
