omega!mack being near a stress induced heat after the final game. sid having to call will for support. he is explaining to will that mack is cuddled with the few omegas in their team, in his nest, trying to calm him and cuddle and snuggle him, so they keep it at bay or try to prevent it from happening. and mack is responding to it well because he is still a relatively young omega, and his body still remembers when he was a pre-teen and heats didn't quite hit like that yet and he got through it with cuddles with his family. also because all alphas and omegas had to go through a meds induced heat/rut because of the olympics and mack did that and it was never said but it was fairly obvious he did that with will.
sid also knows mack hadn't had a bite mark before that and he showed up to the plane ride with a fresh and red and raw bonding mark, will's scent still lingering and mixing with his own even the blockers couldn't suppress it fully. so on the phone sid has to ask 'is it a completed bond?' it's none of his business but also it kinda is and he would absolutely break this baby alpha's neck if he only bit mack before leaving, sending him away with an incomplete bond for selfish reasons, but will pulls the collar of his shirt to the side showing a nicely healed mark on his neck. mack's mark. 'yeah, ts complete' and the way he says it makes sid melt a little, it's a bit shy, not bragging, but so proud and so soft around the edges of those words and okay, maybe the baby alpha deserves some credit here. he honestly thought biting mack before leaving wasn't the brightest idea but at that moment he is kinda happy it happened because satiating a fully bonded omega near stress heat is less complicated at least.
their aim is to prevent mack from going into heat at all, and with their little temporary pack and his family there and mack being bonded to will their chances are good. so he asks will a million things and sure, mack went away with quite a few items scented by will but that was long ago, it mostly faded already. then will would also agree to a few alphas from mack's family and their little pack scenting mack if it comes to that, if the omegas don't succeed fully but only as a last resort. he doesn't like it but he has to because if mack goes to heat there or on the plane that's a disaster. and will is panicking a little because being bonded, literally he is the only person who could help mack, no favours could be asked, no official soothers could be brought because mack would fight it with everything he has, only wanting will and will alone and suddenly his chest is tighter and he wishes he could do anything, he would have sent an emergency pack with mack sealed and locked to keep his scent and he didn't and he is an ocean away and he is spiraling and sid can't growl at him because he is an omega too but he wished he could.
will stops eventually and lists all the items he gave mack, so they make sure mack is having all of them with him, then sid takes the risk of bringing the phone to mack, turning off the camera laying it gently on mack's ear, connor holding it there while cuddling mack. will wants to growl at the sound of mack's stressed breathing and little noises, but instead he buries his nose into a used 71 numbered hoodie and forces himself to start rumbling a bit while talking softly to mack on the phone. and after an hour or so sid can tell it's working because mack is on his chest with connor still plastered to his back and his scent is slowly changing, it's less erratic, slowly stabilising. finally after hours mack is calming down, it's hard to make it out what will is talking about, cooing into mack's ear for so long, but it's working. seeing all the items will sent mack away with, the small instructions he gave about how to rub the spot behind mack's ear, and play with his hair and rub his shoulders and the effort he put into talking mack down from a stress heat, are truly amazing sid. mack starts answering after a while before falling asleep from exhaustion. he takes the phone back, making will stay on high alert, promising to call later because will wants to be there when mack gets off of that plane.
he knew the moment mack showed up to jfk with a fresh bite that their team would give a hell to the alpha who was responsible but maybe this baby alpha is not so bad after all, maybe his baby omega is in good hands.
