This spectacular, very dark violet, almost black iris of unknown identity caught my attention during a visit at Mottisfont Abbey Gardens a few years ago. Even though this garden is famous for its collection of Old Garden Roses I found many perennials, especially the irises and peonies, equally fascinating.
