the second they walked through the door, lacey pulled them aside so her mother wouldn’t see them. she’d see the stream of guests behind them instead. “i’m really sorry but...i can’t really do anything right now. i’m kinda busy.” she motioned to the blue balloons and big pile of presents behind her. lacey’s planned her mother’s baby shower the second she was told her mother was having a baby. she wanted it to go perfectly. “can’t this wait until it’s over?” it’ll be hours since they just started but lacey needed to make sure her mother didn’t stress out about this day.
