dick and artemis winding down a sparring match by stretching out each other’s hamstrings and comparing athletic tape brands. dick, obviously, favors the kind with cartoon characters, especially the teenage mutant ninja turtles. artemis makes DICK’S Sporting Goods jokes.

guess what happens when artemis turns 21. ditch the suit, boy blunder, i’mma show you where gotham’s REAL pulse is at, haha, wait, dick, get off the pole, that isn’t funny, i swear on the batmobile.

robin making a big production out of showing her the batcave, building up the suspense ‘til the reveal of batman’s MOST LETHAL WEAPON. a door slides open… a mild-mannered englishman holding a tray of cookies and a faintly bemused expression steps out.

of course, artemis likes when dick runs his hands over her sides, but there’s something about the cool, patterned texture about nightwing’s gloves that makes her shiver when they drag up her thighs.

when artemis needs actual sustenance on an op, she goes to wally, who sometimes shares his energy bars if he’s feeling magnanimous. when she wants something a little sweeter, dick keeps bubble gum and pop rocks in his utility belt. dick suggested they share a packet, artemis took initiative, slipping her tongue into his slack mouth and nodding approvingly at the sensation when she pulled away.

dick has the resources to make his proposal a real event, possibly including live doves, showtunes, dance montage, the whole nine yards. what he actually does is tell her that, for a while, he was afraid, because she gives him a rush that’s on-par-except-exponentially-more-frightening-therefore-way-better than the mission. he tells her that she’s got her hooks in him, and he wouldn’t give her up, ‘tlll his dying day. if she was game to make it official, so was he. after she said yes and they break apart to breathe, she leans her forehead against his and tells him she’s impressed that there was not a single ‘turbed’, ‘aster’, or ‘chalant’ in his speech. she says she’s whelmed by the lack of fireworks though. dick tells her those can wait till the honeymoon.
