Readerâs POV
I cried for what seemed hours but was only a few minutes when Liam was back in my arms. Scott had put his hand on my back and Stiles was looking at us with a small frown on his lips. Liam wasnât letting go of me and I didn't let go of him. âWhereâs my son.â I could hear Maryâs voice from outside of the door and Liam started crying as his grip got tighter around me.Â
âMaâam youâre not allowed in there.â I heard Jordan speak and before we knew it she opened the door and Scott went to stand in front of me and Liam.Â
âItâs okay honey, I'm not going to let her take you again.â I whispered in his ear rubbing my hand up and down his back.Â
âThatâs my son, I want him back.â Stilesâ dad stood up and stood in front of her preventing her from walking any further.Â
âYouâre not getting him back.â He spoke and I was glad to know someone like him when we needed him.Â
âAnd why the hell not, heâs mine, they have no right.â Mary spoke and moved around him.Â
âMommy.â Liamâs voice spoke and I sighed closing my eyes.Â
âBecause you beat him, thatâs why.â As soon as the words left his mouth I pried Liam off and looked at his face noticing the bruises and cuts on his face and looking down at his arms noticing the same.Â
âOh my god.â I covered my mouth as the tears began again and I stood up from the chair I had been sitting on and handed Liam to Scott before walking up to Mary.Â
âMommy.â Liamâs cries were the only thing I could hear and Stilesâ hands on my arm was the only thing I could feel.Â
âYou hit him?â I growled out.Â
â(Y/N), let it go.â Stiles spoke and I shook my head biting my lip.Â
âThatâs none of your business, I'm his mother I can do whatever the hell I want to him.â As soon as the words left her mouth I slapped her cheek and I could hear the gasps all around the room. âYou bitch.â She spoke as she tried to push me put Stilesâ dad put a hand in between us.Â
âI suggest you leave before I put you in a cell.â He spoke and she looked at me before she stomped out the room and the adrenaline in me lifted breaking me into nothing but sobs and tears. I walked over to Liam seeing his small face filled with bruises and scratches made my stomach turn and all I could do was wipe the small tears out of his face.Â
âIt hurts mommy.â He sniffled out and it broke my heart all over again. Scott looked at me with a disapproving look on his face and I knew he hated watching me with any altercation with anyone but something had to be done. Liamâs arms swung towards me and I gladly took him into my arms as he set his head on my shoulder and I kissed his head.Â
âCan we take him home?â I wiped my tears and I looked at Stilesâ dad who sighed.Â
âYeah, just call me if she tries anything, I'll set up a court date to get you guys full custody and you wonât be have to worry about her anymore.â I smiled at him and gave him a quick hug before he ruffled Liamâs hair.Â
âThank you, so much.â I spoke and he nodded. Scott grabbed my hand and led me outside with Liam in my arms.Â
________
When we got home Lydia and Malia were the first ones to run over to us and see if Liam was fine. They didnât like the fact that he had bruises on his face and Malia even threatened to kill Mary but Scott quickly shut her down before Liam could hear. He had fallen asleep in my arms but I didnât want to lay him down just yet. âYou were out of line back there.â Scott spoke when we were left alone and I sighed as I looked down at Liamâs bruised face.Â
âDonât talk to me like I'm a child. Look what she did to Liam, look.â I hissed out and he sighed closing his eyes.Â
âI know, but that doesnât mean you can go and hit her in the sheriffâs office. How would you feel if you had gotten arrested? Liam wouldnât have been with you.â He sighed. âIâm just trying to look out for you, both of you.â I sighed and kissed his lips.Â
âI know, I'm sorry I shouldnât have done it but I did and it felt great.â I bit my lip and Scott chuckled lightly.Â
âLetâs get him to bed.â He looked down at Liam and I nodded as I stood up and walked to Liamâs room. I set him down on his bed and sighed when I saw the rest of the bruises on his small back. I gave him a small kiss on the cheek before covering his small body with the cover and walking out the room with Scott.Â
âI thought weâd lost him forever.â I bit my lip when I sat back down on the couch. I didnât want to cry anymore but I couldnât help it.Â
âI know baby.â Scott took me into his arms and almost instantly my tears poured out.Â
âHeâs all bruised up Scott, heâll never heal from this.â Scott sighed and wiped the tears from my eyes.Â
âI know baby, I know.â He repeated and kissed my forehead. âBut we can make him feel all the love we can give him and thatâs what will get him through this.â He smiled at me and I couldnât help but smile back as he continued to wipe my tears. I didnât know how long me and Scott had been sleeping but we were abruptly awoken when Liamâs screams could be heard traveling through the house.Â
âMommy! Mommy!â His loud screams had me running towards his room while I stumbled on a bunch of his toys. I ran into his room and he was trashing in his bed and I immediately took him into my arms.Â
âLiam!â I shook him lightly and his tiny eyes opened just before he wrapped his arms around me. âHey, itâs okay honey, itâs okay.â I rub small circles on his back as he sobs uncontrollably on my shoulder. âYouâre okay.â I sigh and bring him to the living room sitting on the couch with Scott who was rubbing his eyes. âYou wanna go with daddy?â I ask him and he nods and Scott takes him into his arms.Â
âWhatâs wrong bud?â Scott hugs him as he snuggles his head into his shoulder.Â
âMommy wasnât there.â He sniffled and his fist grabbed Scottâs shirt.Â
âIâm right here baby, it was just a bad dream.â I smiled at him and he rubbed his eyes yawning before grabbing my fingers with his small hand.Â
________
That night Liam woke up five times, three which were in our bed. I didnât mind, I would do anything to make him feel safe once more and if he wanted me to comfort him in the middle of the night while he slept then so be it. A week had passed and it had only gotten worse, he didnât want to be away from either Scott or me. Heâd be stuck to our side. When I would cook heâd be clinging onto my leg and when Scott had gone out to get the paperwork for his adoption he had me call him every five minutes. The bruises on his body had slowly started to fade but the pain was still there. He was scared every time one of us raised our tone and he was scared every time he heard something drop. Today we had agreed that we were going to do something to make him happy once more and what better way to make him happy than to take him to the park. Granted I didnât want to go anywhere in fear of bumping into Mary but we couldnât hide in fear, thatâs not what we do. âAre you ready for the park?â I asked Liam as he sat in his carseat holding his small lion in his hands.Â
âYes mommy.â He gave me a smile, a smile that took over three days to resurface. I smiled at him and patted his foot as Scott drove to the park, Scott had been supportive and Liam had been really attached to him. It was amazing to see Liam finally give into Scott and Scott was loving it. He loved being the one to comfort him when I couldnât.Â
âWeâre here.â Scott spoke as he parked the car. I got off getting Liam out of his carseat and putting him down so he could walk. His small hands wrapped around both mine and Scottâs before we walked down to the playground.Â
âGo on honey, weâll be right here.â I smile at him and he shakes his head as we all sit at the bench. Â
âIâll go with you, come on.â Scott took Liamâs hand and guided him to the small sand box. âSee itâs not so bad.â Scott smiled as he handed Liam a small bucket. Liam started to put sand in the bucket and he smiled at Scott as he started to help him. Soon more kids started to play in the sand box and Liam stuck to Scottâs side.
âHi.â I heard one of them squeal before they waved at Liam. âWhatâs your name?â The kid smiled and Liam looked at Scott leaning into him but Scott chuckled and patted his back.Â
âItâs okay, donât be scared.â Scott nodded and Liam looked at the kid strangely.Â
âLiam.â He said quietly and the kid smiled.Â
âIâm Timmy.â The kid smiled and placed his hand on the bucket Liam was working with. âCan I help?â Liam looked back at Scott who nodded before Liam nodded as well. Scott had a chance to escape and when he did he came to sit next to me. We watched as Liam played shyly with the small kid occasionally looking at us to see if we were still there. I sighed and leaned my head on Scottâs shoulder as I enjoyed Liam being normal for once.Â
