An early sketch of three-faced-sphinx AM that I threw some ink on.
What was the name that giant bird thing that AM created to torment those poor people? Does he/she even have a name?
So, the bird is described a bit, but the only passage that I could find that gave the nightmare bird a name was this:
I looked up these names—Huergelmir and Hurakan, and apparently Hvergelmir is actually a spring in Norse mythology, and Huracan is the name of the Mayan god of wind, fire, and storm.
And I mean. Harlan DID bang ihnmaims out in one night so I’m not surprised that there’s some weird little misspellings? Or maybe there’s other stuff that he’s referencing that I just couldn’t find?
Either way, I did a little doodle of what I imagine the bird could look like. I tried giving it a ton of claws, cause the idea of an animal having tons of claws growing in clusters skeeves me the bell out. But I think it ended up looking pretty doofy 🤣 oh well, I tried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I kinda wonder what it'd be like to be a soft jelly thing. Sounds mildly comfortable actually, if you were in a pleasant environment like a nice soft bed or a windy sunny field of grass.
