A Siren’s Woes [Closed w/ allhailmuggod]
The breeze of the ocean rolls along the beaches of Inkwell Isle’s third island, with waves of white foam and clear waters ebbing and flowing along the sands of the beach. It was a serene, calm afternoon, and near the coast-line, perched atop a large rock cropping out from beneath the waves, was a massive mermaid, head adorned with a squid that formed her hair with its tentacles.
“His smile fair as spring, as towards him he draws you...”
“His tongue sharp and silvery as he implores you...”
“Your wishes he grants, as he swears to adore you...”
“Gold, silver, jewels - he lays riches before you...”
Cala Maria’s near-heavenly singing tone over-voiced even the most roiling of waves, the air filling with her serenading, alluring melody... but unlike most of her songs, this one sounded somber. Saddening, even, filled with her own self-reflection of events that long since has passed. But even now, the bitterness of those events filled her singing voice.
And she was so caught up in her singing, she did not notice she had an audience...
