Deadlifting
When attempting to deadlift some may tend to go into the lift more relaxed than others. It is key for one to stabilize the spine as much as possible in order to protect yourself from injury. In order to protect/stabilize your spine in a natural context you can use what they call in the exercise science world the "valsalva maneuver." The valsalva maneuver is done by taking a large breath of air into your lungs and doing your absolute best in order to cut off any places where air could escape the body while pulling the weight from the floor. This type of precaution will help stabilize the spine in a natural way. If you use this precaution while using a weight lifting belt you'll find a higher success rate when you're attempting to pull an ample amount of weight from the floor.
