Chrysalis_Fiasco: there was once a king who's wife made him promise he could not marry anyone less beautiful than her as she lay on her deathbed

Chrysalis_Fiasco: years went by and the king hadn't remarried, he couldn't find anyone beautiful enough

Chrysalis_Fiasco: then one day he noticed his daughter looked exactly like his mother

Chrysalis_Fiasco: and against the advice of his counsil decided he'd marry her

Chrysalis_Fiasco: the princess is of course appalled but has to agree on pain of death. So she says she will if her father brings her a dress that is as gold as the sun, a dress as silver as the moon and dress made of hundreds of different animals/ She though the request would put him off

Chrysalis_Fiasco: But before her wedding night she packed the sun dress and the moon dress into nut shells/ Put on the all-fur dress, smeared her face with soot and escaped into the woods

Chrysalis_Fiasco: In the woods she stumbles into another kingdom where she is captured, believed to be some odd animal call Allfur

Chrysalis_Fiasco: All-fur is put to work in the kitchens.

Chrysalis_Fiasco: At night she wears the sun dress and the young prince finds her beautiful, then she dissappears and dresses up in her allfurs

Chrysalis_Fiasco: I think he gave her a ring when he met her in the sun dress too

Chrysalis_Fiasco: the next day she makes him soup and drops the ring into it.

Chrysalis_Fiasco: The prince finds the soup delicious and discovers all-fur made it

Chrysalis_Fiasco: ((wait he didn't give her the ring yet))

Chrysalis_Fiasco: The next night she dresses up in the moon dress and meets the prince. He gives her the ring then

Chrysalis_Fiasco: when she makes the soup he likes she drops the ring into the soup

Chrysalis_Fiasco: the prince finds it then has All-fur dragged upstairs to meet him

Chrysalis_Fiasco: he forces her to reveal herself

Chrysalis_Fiasco: oh and her original kingdom probably promptly fell into chaos with no natural heirs and an insane incesty king

Another version of Catskin comes from the Brothers Grimm. "Allerleirauh," which translates to All-Fur or All-Kinds-of-Fur, is the name of both the tale and of the heroine, who wears a coat made out of...well, all kinds of fur.

When Allerleirauh's father wants to marry her, the girl tries to weasel out of the incestuous arrangement by setting impossible tasks. She asks, in turn for a dress golden as the sun, one silvery as the moon, and one bright as the stars. But the king manages to produce these impossible dresses. So Allerleirauh asks for a coat made out of fur from every animal in the kingdom. When the king manages to provide the fanciful coat, the princess runs away, a journey that leads her to a new kingdom, and a much more suitable suitor...
