2017 September 30 - Urban Sketch - Robertson Quay in Watercolors
It’s been a long time since I last joined the Urban Sketchers SG group for an urban sketch walk. A combination of tighter finances, more time needed to look after the family, as well as some general disagreements amongst a small few of the local art group members did put me off drawing for some time. But I feel that now is a better time than later/never to start drawing again. And actually begin watercolor painting.
Done with Aquafine Watercolors (Pocket Set) with fine sable brush, and Uni-ball gel pen.

“Robertson Quay is a wharf near the source of the Singapore River. It is the largest and most upstream of the three wharfs (the other two being Boat Quay and Clarke Quay) on the river.”
Apparently, the Alkaff Bridge is the landmark of this area.)
I intend to do more watercolors in the future, as I might start incorporating watercolor elements onto future inked works.

Singapore's Colorful Alkaff "ArtBridge"

The central business district of Singapore is home to the 55-meter, 230-ton Alkaff Bridge. Popularly called Singapore's ArtBridge, the pedestrian bridge was designed to resemble a tongkang, a traditional boat common to the region.
Built in 1999, the bridge was painted in 2003-2004 by renowned Filipino artist Pacita Abad and a team of paintbrush-wielding rope specialists who transformed it into the vibrant landmark it is today.
Spanning the Singapore River at Robertson Quay in Singapore's Central Business District the Alkaff Bridge is a pedestrian bridge.
Painted in January 2004 in vibrant colours by Filipino artist Pacita Abad and a team of rope specialists. The artist and her crew of helpers used 55 different colours and more than 900 litres of industrial-strength paint to transform the bridge into Singapore's first "Bridge of Art".
