âi will start watching the new voltron the second anyone explains to me...â
Mostly because toys, I think. Anthro things are easy to make: stick a few rectangular prisms together. Cats are easy to turn into rectangular prism-ish shapes.
In continuity, Haggar originally broke Voltron, and she likes cats.Â
Like 70% sure that doesnât hold true in the reboot, but shrug.
anyway, overthinking the first three episodes:
[pulls out a record with an obvious scratch in it and puts it in a player] âWHY ARE THESE ALIENS SPEAKING ENGLISH. zrtch WHY ARE--â
OK, I can understand the good aliens speaking English âcause theyâre the kind of people who probably think nothing of universal translators
What kind of lame universal conqueror with superluminal technology still hasnât taken over galaxy after TEN THOUSAND YEARS? They even have automated repair drones, so clearly they could create Dyson-sphere-constructing Von Neumann probes which expanded quadratically (or at least linearly) to cover every star. And whenever some system resisted they could just hook up a bunch of lasers to the nearest Dyson sphere, point them at the planets in the system and then wait a few years.
I guess that explains why they expect to beat the Galrog with a single giant robot (which is somehow piloted by 5 guys (AU idea: the Paladins try to start a restaurant) Â without them forming a hive mind), theyâre pretty dumb.
Honestly the transformation sequence is at least 25% of it for me. Hell yeah.
Writers, stop making fun of Hunk, please. (feel free to keep making fun of Lance, though)
BLAHBLAHBLAHMYSTICISMBLAH did the Alteans ever consider creating a giant robot that DIDNâT rely on having an Enlightened Connection in order for it to be used to itâs full potential? Thatâs probably why thereâs only one Voltron. Definitely not for plot reasons.
Eheheh Keith pretends to be all cool but heâs really just as much of a one-up-you donkus as Lance. I bet they actually were rivals in class.
Speaking of pretty dumb Galra:Â âThis weapon, which I have created, will defeat the greatest weapon in the universe, and then we will take that weapon, which will be defeated by a weapon we already have, and have the greatest weapon in the universe!â
Hell, why arenât they sending two of them.
Huh, this guyâs weapon is actually kind of like the new version of Ysmineâs: A mace with an extensible, intangible shaft.
So, consensus: rather formulaic, with dialogue that sounds like itâs been translated from another language and lost some of itâs edge in the process, but very well-animated, well voice acted, often genuinely funny, and certainly enjoyable.
