Ā Ā Ā Heād made it all the way to the hospital the boy had wound up in, and yet, his hand stillĀ wavered before the door. He did his best to force a smile on his face in preparation, but whatever expression he had mustered up felt foreign and wrong. Would the boy even want to see David again? It was his faultĀ heād wound up here, after all. If only David had been paying attention- if only he hadnāt been caught up in some stupidĀ contest, then maybe this all could have been avoided. Honestly, it was a miracle (or perhaps a sick, twisted irony) that David hadnāt been fired for the whole ordeal. But then again, who elseĀ besides him would agree to work at a place like Camp Campbell? Hell, Gwen had only wound up there with him because sheād run out of other options, and Daniel- Well, he didnāt like to think about that incident, especially now. He could hardly handle the guilt he placed on himself for oneĀ camper almost dying.
A breath was taken as he finally opened the door, hands suddenly feeling empty as he realised he should have brought something- anything- for the child. God... He was the worst counselor ever. He should have called first. What if Chucky didnāt want him here? What if Davidās presence only upset him? What if...
āH-Hey there, Chucky!ā His voice was a mere shadow of his usual tone.Ā āWeāve missed you at camp!! Just thought Iād stop in and say hi. How you hanging in there, kiddo? Feeling any better?ā
