Rolling Shadows and Slithering Clouds || Fox & Fintan
She had taken a graveyard shift that night, the library now choosing to stay open much later in case students needed some midnight cramming. The schools library remained closed at an earlier time, which is why the Lullaby Library must have chosen to take this course of action. Fintan had turned on every light in the building in hopes to drown out the shadows that crept in from behind the glass windows; even lighting a few candles she had bought downtown earlier that day. She would stop and stare at the pretty little items every now and then, she had three of them that were molded and coloured to the shape of water lilies - the wick elegantly placed in the center. It may have been the wrong time to do so but Fintan had managed to get herself into a bit of a darker book than what she had usually read. She had gotten herself about five chapters into Stephen King’s “Bag of Bones”; just after having read her favorite Edgar Allen Poe short story “The Tell Tale Heart”. It was a bit harder for her to keep calm with every creak she heard, however her stories were far too good to put down due to a fear of something not real - not to mention she needed something - anything - to get her mind off of the heartless bullying that was being thrust upon her by Fox… Fintan stood up suddenly as she thought she heard the door open, anxiety rising in her when she saw no one there. She walked over to the area slowly before she stopped herself. No no… I’m just hearing things… Calm down, you need to quite reading that book, it’s just the book getting to you… Fintan shook her head a bit before moving to turn around and go back to her seat, knowing she had a copy of “The Tales of Beetle the Bard” in her bag.
