He was not aware of the countless stars falling to the barren desert around them last night. And none of the fellow soldiers on duty last night cared to report it as they shrugged it as nothing but beautiful natural phenomenon. So, no one ever saw it coming, including Private Jones, when the scorpion-like creature utilized its powerful sphere of influence as it witnessed the Army's Humvee marched through the desert in the area where the stars fell last night.
Every single personnel that entered the domain of the extraterrestrial visitor froze themselves before simultaneously moved out from their Humvee and then grabbed the plentiful scorpions in sight.
Their eyes welled with tears and they tried to scream as they know that something is totally wrong and this is not something they willingly do. But, they cannot stop themselves before they snapped back from the control as the scorpions already crawled within their throat. All of the personnel, including several high-ranking base officials that joined the Humvee convoy, started to scream while their body convulsed wildly to resist the invasion. Yet, once these alien already made their way in, they cannot be taken out as they practically became one with their vessel. In their desperation, a few of the Army personnel managed to shoot each other to stop the possibility of them being a carrier to their base, but these heroic personnel are just a handful out of many that quickly fell victim to the control of the invading extraterrestrial.

"Stop being afraid like that, bro. I'm looking totally normal, am I right? Just stop fighting and just let it go, you'll live a more fulfilling life serving the greater cause,"
As Corporal Valenzia said that, he uncovered the crawling scorpion covered by his cap. The cornered fellow Corporal just bursted into tears and scream as Corporal Valenzia grabbed him by his neck and shoved the scorpion right into his gaping mouth with satisfied heartless smile plastered on his face as if he's not just doomed his own brother in arms.
With the whole base taken over, the next plan is to get out from the isolated wasteland and get into a far more densely populated area so they can control and expand bigger Earth territory. Lucky for them that right in the next day, a batch of shipping will come and several of them will also be send back to the States as their time in the base is finished, including Corporal Valenzia that is more than eager to meet his friends and families so they can quickly understand the importance of his new cause.
