#alien!edith

Jennifer, a female earth name, is used alongside the more alien names Zorx and Klax in the book. This could mean aliens have Earth names for their females, and more alien names for their males.

Edith has freckles!!! And as foolproof as her disguise may be, that might just be the spotty alien skin making a breakthrough.

She’s the only character in the movie (that i can see, i’ve only watched the full thing once and then replayed clips) with eyes that aren’t black/brown or whatever the default colour is supposed to be. Also notice she hides one of her eyes behind her hair. This might be because she’s shy, or it could be because she thinks her eyes look different so she hides them to not draw attention to them, but obviously she can’t hide them both or she’ll walk into a wall.

And then when Captain Underpants compliments her on them, the first thing she says is ‘i didn’t think you noticed.’. This could be because no one has complimented her on them before, but it could also be because no one has noticed she has ‘unnatural’ (at least in her limited knowledge of the world) eyes and therefore no one knows she’s an alien. 

AND THE SECOND SHE’S COMPLIMENTED ON THEM LIKE IT’S NOTHING, SHE JUST UNCOVERS HER OTHER EYE AND SHE LOOKS SO HAPPY!!! She didn’t even hesitate like she was shy or something (which honestly she didn’t come off as shy to me, just awkward and kinda bad at doing the social.)

She n e v e r takes her gloves off, even at the restaurant, and doesn’t bat an eyelid. She’s also wearing the exact same clothes in every scene, minus the restaurant scene where she only removes her apron. The gloves thing could be to hide the tentacles, while the same clothes shtick could be because of the fact that everyone in the school basically wears the same thing and she thinks it’s normal. 

For people passing this off as just the usual ‘character wears the same clothes all the time’ trope, Krupp, George, Harold and Professor P all change their uniform to a completely different thing.

Speaking of the restaurant, she says she’s never been to such a fancy place even though they’re sitting by the door to the men’s toilets??? Either she doesn’t leave the school much or alien restaurants are horrible.

And she barely reacts when a hecking Living Talking Toilet bursts out of the men’s room and eats someone honey what?

The way she says ‘I did not mean to interrupt the photocopying process’ with the odd wording. (Not abbreviating did not to didn’t, photocopying process as opposed to just photocopying.)

She hangs around radioactive leftovers all day??? That other people need to wear hazmat suits to be around???

She slunks around like a sneaky Sally and makes No Noise Edith Honey How? And barely anyone other than Krupp or the boys acknowledge her existence? 

In short, I live and breathe for Alien!Edith.
