What is the difference between alguno(and its alternatives) and cualquier(and its alternatives)?
Cualquier means any in the sense than literally ANY thing or object is suitable and acceptable. It’s not discriminating against any possibility. Anything will do. It refers to any being used as an adjective. It does not change for gender. It’s only used for singular nouns.
Nos podemos reunir cualquier día - We can meet up any(whatever) day.
Algún/alguna implies some/any in the sense that it is tighter/not as broad/more specific. It pertains to the matter at hand.

Alguno means somebody/someone. When placed after a noun which is being used negatively, it then means ningún/ninguna.
Alguno lo hará - Somebody will do it No hay esperanza alguna - There’s no hope (not any hope)
Cualquiera means anybody or anything /whichever/whatever. It refers to anything as a noun.
Dame cualquiera (cualquier cosa). Give me whatever. Cualquiera puede andar en bicicleta - Anybody can ride a bike
