Sherlock knew that when he got the call Mycroft had about enough of all this nonsense. It was one thing that people protested things that gays and lesbians wanted to do with their lives, from marriage to adopting children, but it was far another for a gang of ant-gay men to be going around and literally attempting to mame and kill gays because of who they were. Sherlock had been given every last case file Mycroft had, almost immediately and then sent back to the house to work on the files.
After a week, Sherlock had all the information catalogued into his mind and was already making a list of leads he wanted to follow up on. The first one being a man named Alfie, that had been lucky enough to survive his attack but unlucky enough to be scarred for life because of it. He went to therapy every Wednesday, had permanent scarring and an injury to his hand that made it difficult to do much of anything with that hand. Sherlock frowned as he stood outside the flat complex where Alfie lived.
[Text to Mycroft Holmes] This could either go really well or really badly. Suggestions? Or shall I just walk up there and try to be the charming self that I am? ~SH
[Mycroft Holmes] Be careful, will you? The poor man has been through enough. It was hard enough to convince you to go in the day time when he wouldn’t already be in a panic. Try to be kind, understanding, even if it is a put on. I’ve seen you do it, so do it again! Do not set him off, with all his anxiety issues that would be of a bad result. ~MH
[Text to Mycroft Holmes] I’m not that insensitive. It’ll be fine. ~SH
Sherlock walked the final set of stairs and stood in front of Alfie’s door. He knocked firmly but light enough to not alarm the man. He heard footsteps coming towards the door and decided that it would be best to pull out his police badge, one of the ones he had pickpocketed from Lestrade ages ago.
The door opened and there stood the early twenties young man.
“Steven Robertson, from the Yard.” he said flashing the badge quickly. “I’ve come on the investigation into your assault. May I come in?”
