Do you have any advice in writing stories I've been in the mood lately, but then as I write I get stumped and stuck my writers block is bad
Iâm so sorry that Iâm only just getting to this! Lifeâs been... A Lot skksksk but it has been for everyone, so I shouldnât complain! I hope that something here is useful for you and that this answer is what you need for it to be.đWriterâs block is a very common problem and youâre definitely not alone in it, though of course that doesnât make it any easier to combat.
There are two ways in which you can, in my experience, deal with writerâs block. The first way is that you can try not writing for the duration of the time in which you have a block. Creativity is like a well and sometimes the source of it is dry for a time and it needs to replenish itself. This period of time can be a few days, a week, a month... Creativity comes and goes like the seasons but it always comes back! This can be a tricky method because Iâve found that the longer I go without writing when I have a block, the harder it is to begin creating again, but it all depends on what you prefer! The time away from a piece youâre stuck on can provide you with a clear head and a fresh perspective and this is so important when it comes to getting inspiration - you can read a paragraph three times over and not be able to move on from it or to progress the scene, but literally sleeping on it and giving yourself that break can really help your mind to digest the scene and to figure out where to take it next.
The second way which works for me when I have writerâs block, and this way is the one I prefer, is to write about the weather. Set the scene. Is it sunny? Rainy? How does that make the characters feel? Does the weather fit in with their mood? Pathetic fallacy is probably my favourite literary device, which is why I say this, but setting the scene has always helped me to get a feel for the scene Iâm writing and to then follow it through with dialogue and actions. In my larger pieces, this is how I start - a journey home from work or waking up, and the sensations and feelings of these daily experiences helps me to put myself into the piece and this helps me to overcome anything I get stuck on - what would you do in this scenario? Using real life actions in this way is a great way to add realism but also to help you to connect to what youâre writing; there is a good deal of self-insert in writing, not just in x reader imagines but also in general writing - we write what we know.
The fact that youâve been wanting to write and then getting stuck is a good sign that your writerâs block can be easily overcome! Take a break from the pieces youâre stuck on, sleep on them or maybe even reach out to a friend to see if they will read it over for you and perhaps help you on where to go with it, describe the general weather or the setup, the actions and the feelings and see where that takes you! Try not to overthink it, my love. There are no real rules in writing, in my opinion. I took a creative writing module for my English Lit degree and I hated it - there were so many âdo thisâ and âdonât do thatâ and âmake sure you do thisâ and âavoid doing thisâ rules and if people want to follow them, then thatâs amazing! But for me, this stifled my creativity and made me want to not write, so the best piece of advice I have for you is to just... have fun with it. Write what you want to write in the way you want to write it when you want to write it, and all shall fall into place!
Thank you so much for reaching out, angel, and Iâm so sorry that it took me so long to get to this! I hope that youâre able to overcome your writerâs block soon; Iâm here if ever you want to ask anymore questions. Iâm so proud of you!đĽ°đ
