Ik SJM has said that it is possible for the cauldron to chose wrong, so maybe she should have an arc for that. Plus she’s got that “I chose my own path” type of thing in Feyre’s story, right? So perhaps she can have Elain and Lucien *chose* their mate/lover as opposed to following what the cauldron wants

i DO strongly agree that lucien and elain won't end up together. i'm not sure if lucien and vassa will (and i've also heard some people theorize that lucien might die 😭💔 but sjm herself says she doesn't like killing main characters and he's a prominent side character so idk)

choosing your own path is a BIG theme in acotar. it's basically the entire plot for nesta, gwyn, and emerie in acosf. it's everything feyre does. rhys even says often that "you'll always have a choice here"

my theory is that elain's gonna end up w azriel (both bc i want them to 😭 and bc i think there's more evidence for elriel instead of gwynriel), but putting my elriel agenda aside, just on a literary level elain choosing anybody but lucien makes sense. bc LOOK feyre was taken into the prythian world unwillingly and ended up willingly (she fights for prythian now and is a leader there). nesta was taken into the prythian world unwillingly and fought tooth and nail and ended up w acceptance (she will never be "willingly" like feyre but she has accepted some good came from all this nonsense and she's a better person now).

literally the only option left is elain entered prythian unwillingly (which already happened) and she will CHANGE prythian to end up "willingly." which would mean rejecting what the cauldron has offered her. rhysand and feyre and then nesta and cassian fought in their books for the people they were always "meant" to end up w. to do the same thing in the third would be repetitive and dumb.

see i heard that too!! and i was so upset bc azriel's one of my favorites and everyone lauds him for being the most gentlemanly of all the illyrian babies <3

and then i read it and 🤨 the acotar fandom is so quick to antagonize everything i stg- 😐

there was NO objectification or anything awful or any of those rumors in that chapter, which i read like 3 times out of disbelief of the backlash i'd heard. instead, i think people were just surprised since az's usually so reserved and mysterious, and in his head we can see that he wishes for love and a life like both rhys and cass just as much as anyone else. he has jealousy for the life cass and rhys have found w nesta and feyre respectively, which we didn't ever get from him before since we know he loves all four of those people so much, which is the only reason i can guess people got mad at him, but jealousy is a common flaw and great character development, and jealousy does not outweigh his love for any of those people.
