☁💛Today is "International Albinism Awareness Day" which is a day that was adopted by the UN to advocate for awareness and education about Albinism in order to dispel common myths and misconceptions within certain communities that put people with Albinism at risk to stigmatization and attack.

What is Albinism? 💌🐑

Albinism is a rare, non-contagious, genetically inherited condition which occurs worldwide regardless of ethnicity or gender. It most commonly results in the lack of melanin pigment in the hair, skin and eyes (oculocutaneous albinism), causing vulnerability to sun exposure. This can lead to skin cancer and severe visual impairment.

There are various types of albinism depending on what gene is affected and how much pigment is left in the body.

How can i help a person with albinism? 🌈🐰

When a person has albinism, people do not hesitate to emphasize that quality, even if it is not with the intention of offending it is usually annoying for them to be reduced to their quality. Many times they are bullied or denied work in some companies just for being albino, we are not different, they can work perfectly like anyone else.

Not making them feel different also implies not being racist with them, in Africa they tend to burn, rape and sell limbs of their body cause ""They are cursed"" or ""they have properties of good luck"". No, please, never be cruel to a person just for their skin tone, it doesn't make sense, if u see that someone else is, stop it! Watching someone else get hurt and doing nothing also makes you an aggressor.

they are in charge of educating the population about albinism, they r also in charge of giving treatment to albinos who need it, either due to sunburn or blindness.
