alberyeol replied to your photo “100 pages.”
This is insane. And awesome. Insanely awesome.
Yes, but HOW MUCH MORE DO I NEED TO WRITE TO GET THE BASTARD FINISHED?!
I went to bed at 6am. I have had five hours sleep. I feel like any less than 10k more words wouldn’t do it justice. I have two weeks. In that time, I also need to finish a painting.
Remind me never to sign up for one of these ever again.
4, 7, 16, 24, 25? if that's too much then you don't have to do All
I already did 7, 16 & 25, but I can do the others.
4. Do you have a “muse” character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn’t about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?
Well, I love the underdog and the underappreciated characters. My OTP in Stargate: Atlantis was made up of two obscure background characters who didn’t even have first names, one of whom died on his second appearance and the other who fell into a plothole at the end of season 1 and was never acknowledged ever again.
I resonate to the number ‘Rarepair’.
I tend to focus on the characters and people I’m passionate about - ones I’m fond of and identify with (even if I don’t think we’re personally similar, I can understand their ways of thinking and their outlooks on life). That’s why the majority of my bandom fics are Joe-centric. I find myself wanting to elevate him to the same level of importance that people place on Pete and Patrick, and show him as a Real Boy. He has definitely inserted himself in fics where he wasn’t meant to be part of the pairing and taken over - although I never finished or published that fic.
On the whole, though, my muse characters tend to be the focus of my work from the start, so they don’t usually need to insert themselves.
24. Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren’t any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
It varies. I guess it kind of depends who is kind enough to let me con them into reading and re-reading my works in progress. In the old days, I think certain fics might have had contributions from up to about six different people. Some would be there for characterisation, some would be there for what used to be called Yankpicking (removing the Britishisms that crept in), others would just be there for moral support, like that time I had to write panty porn against my better judgement and I nearly had a breakdown because OH GOD NO. Literally, writing that was torment.
Some of those people’s role was just to read it and say,”Yeah, it’s fine.” It not necessarily about someone to pick apart the fic with.
I used to have a really close writing relationship with @ostarrynight in fandom, but as we’ve gotten older and lives have diverged, we’ve remained good friends but don’t move in the same circles in a fannish sense (although we’ve been working on an original thing together for years). She used to read and conceptualise every line with me, via IM. We did this for literally years. I used to stay up until 10am writing with her. Once stayed up for 36hrs working on HP fic over a weekend, with her.
Presently, @alberyeol does something similar, although we work via email. In the old days we didn’t have Google Drive to collaborate on, so everything had to be exchanged manually. These days, my betas have access to the files I’m writing and can dip in and out as they please (sometimes from the beginning, sometimes when I reach a stage when I have enough of the plot down to think about). I mean, this is what we did with your fics, so I know you’re familiar with this method.
For TWNW, @alberyeol and @swiss-army-romance have been invaluable and I appreciate their efforts more than they know. They worked me through a lot of really complex priorities and development for chapter 19 (kind of what I told you about yesterday).
One beta horror story I have was a woman I knew who shared chunks of my fic with someone else, without asking, to prove a point about how wrong I was (I wasn’t). That pissed me off like nobody’s business. She also went on to make some really nasty comments about Welsh people and I wasn’t having it, so I cut her off.

Your handwriting is so neat and tidy!!
Is it the OCD, the artist, or the Virgo ascendant? Enquiring minds, etc.

Great gif usage dude. Pretty accurate.
IKR. Damn kids don't know they're born.
4 and 16 for the truth or dare thing! c:
4. (truth) What is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
My dad took me to see Elton John for my 18th birthday. It was a four hour drive there and we didn’t get back home until 3 am.
16. (truth) what is your dream job?
i would love to be a queer historian. (in that i want to be a historian and i’m queer, and a historian who studies queer history)
thank you!
send me one of these asks

Being scared of basically anything and everything, I’m afraid my suggestions would be pretty vanilla, but I absolutely love supernatural beings!
Well, that's fine - I doubt anything I write will be too harrowing! More likely to get Casper than Pennywise.
