Hey there ! Just wanted to say that I love your art first of all ! Secondly, I was wondering, where you do you get the inspiration for the outfits in your recent DnD drawings ? They look absolutely stunning !
Hi there, thanks a lot ! I mostly look at historical clothing and pick a period to take inspiration from depending on the campaign/character. I don’t go for accuracy at all since it’s usually fantasy settings with no clear historical anchorpoints, but it helps me picking cuts and pattern that fit the character’s story, style and personality ! I have a bunch on inspiration boards on my pinterest where I gather references that I like, and a few books that kind of are a go-to for me when I lack clothing inspiration. I especially use Racinet’s Le Costume Historique, I have a copy of it but an original edition is also available online on Gallica (the digital extension of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France). Museums that have online databases are also a great source.
For my latest dnd post, I used Les Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry as a reference for flamboyant 15th century clothing !
